For parents estranged from adult children, it’s not easy getting through the holidays.
This episode contains six different survival tips to help see you through a potentially difficult time of year.
You can’t choose whether the holidays come around, or whether your child decides to reconnect in time for you to celebrate together. But you do have control over a large portion of your own experience.
Don’t go through the holidays without being at least somewhat prepared. Take some time to think about protecting your heart, making room for grief, and maximizing any possible enjoyment during this festive time of year.
One of the ideas mentioned, perhaps not surprisingly, is to volunteer (as long as you’re up for it mentally, emotionally and physically).
