Episode 50: Should Your Child Meet You Halfway?

Many parents of estranged adult children have asked them, “How can we fix this?” The answer is often silence. The estranged adult child doesn’t necessarily have any interest in talking about how to reconcile.

In this episode, Tina gives you four reasons to go ahead and try to repair the relationship, regardless of your child’s participation.

Should your child put aside her grievances to visit you in your sickbed? Should he give you a chance to explain yourself, or even just cut you a little more slack?

“Should” is not a problem-solver. It only makes you feel bad about the person your child has become. The person who “should” do things but doesn’t.

What can you do about that? Nothing. But what can you do to repair the relationship, making it healthier and more satisfying for both of you? Plenty.

Listen to the episode using the player below, and get inspired to deploy your reconciliation plan with or without your child’s participation.
