Do you wish you could be closer to your adult child?

Parents need love, too.

Don’t waste any more time

before starting to heal.

Too many parents find themselves cut off by one or more of their adult children.

Can you relate to any of these feelings?

  • Rejected, hurt, lonely, angry, and/or sad
  • You're questioning your parenting skills
  • You're wondering about 3rd party influence
  • You're embarrassed to tell anyone
  • You worry about your child's mental health
  • You don't know what to do

That's what inspired us to build this place.

Introducing The Reconnection Club

The Club is so much more than just another support group. It’s nothing less than an online school, teaching parents how to transform their relationships with their children and themselves.

Forget about “Us vs. Them.” There’s none of that here. It’s all about compassion… for you AND your child.

Guided by a caring, knowledgeable therapist.

Rejected parents need in-depth, practical, up-to-date information & tools. We’ve got them.

PLUS the social support, friendship and encouragement from other parents just like you.

Learn how to craft a message your child will appreciate.

Let us help you:

Find just the right words to express yourself over email or text, without inviting a negative reaction.

Eliminate the guesswork around questions like, "Is it too soon try reaching out again?"

Tap into the knowledge of parents who've been there, tried that, and have wisdom to share.

Learn behaviors that will attract your child like a magnet, instead of waiting passively for change.

Understand what went wrong in the first place, so you never have to go through this again.

Love yourself more, while also loving your child, your family and your life again.

Meet the Club director

Hi, I’m Tina Gilbertson, psychotherapist and founder (along with my husband, Mike) of the Reconnection Club.

I’ve spent years helping parents reconnect with their estranged adult children. Through my psychological training and experience as a family estrangement counselor, I’ve learned a lot about why adult children estrange themselves, and what parents can do about it.

I hear regularly from parents who have successfully used what they learned in the Club to regain their precious connection with a previously estranged adult child.

Estrangement doesn’t happen overnight, and it usually takes time to fully resolve. By joining the Club today, you’ll get the ongoing support and information you need as you navigate from estrangement through to post-reconciliation.

Not sure if the Reconnection Club is right for you?

The Reconnection Club is not for everyone, and we’d rather have you decide if we’re a match before you join. So here’s a list of who the Club is (and is not) for…

Who the Club is for

  • Newly estranged parents of adult children (18 and up)
  • Parents living with ongoing estrangement
  • Those who are reconciled but still walking on eggshells
  • Estranged parents interested in lifelong learning and personal growth
  • Those who understand that a "quick fix" is no fix at all

Who the Club is NOT for

  • People estranged from someone other than their child
  • Clinically depressed, hopeless or suicidal parents (Please call 1-800-273-8255)
  • Parents separated from a minor child in someone else's custody
  • Those estranged primarily because of addiction in the parent or the child

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? We’ve got answers…

We ask for your real name, address and credit card at signup, but none of that information is visible to other members.

When you first sign up, you’ll create a unique username (nickname), and that’s how other members will identify you.

We’re confident that you’ll love being a member of our friendly community. But if for any reason you’re not 100% satisfied, we have a 90-day, no questions asked, full refund policy.

Just ask. We won’t give you a hard time.

We can give you all the tools and information you need to work toward reconciliation with your child. But we can’t take the steps for you. Therefore, we’re not able to guarantee reconciliation.

What we can say is that we regularly see parents succeed in re-establishing contact using the resources we provide.

Not hard at all. Cancel any time by clicking the “Cancel” button in your account.  It’s that simple.

Our community is behind a paywall. Only those who sign up for a membership can view and post on the discussion pages.

If you know how to click your way around a website, you’ll be right at home inside the Club. However, we’re here to help you if you have any trouble.

We have a detailed overview course, Getting Started With Your Membership, that explains all the ins and outs of navigating the site. Feel free to check it out before you join.

We also make it easy to contact us with technical questions by using the community forum, the Tech Support page, or good old email.

Socializing is optional in the Club, but we encourage you to participate in the community to the extent that you’re comfortable. The support of a community is a big benefit for estranged parents, who often feel alone.

You can choose whether to share information about yourself, such as your geographical location, hobbies, etc. so that other members can get to know you.

You can send and receive friendship requests to follow other members’ posts in the forums and view each other’s activity feeds.

You can also start or join a group that describes specific criteria, e.g. “Colorado Dads,” to build a mini-community within our community.

You may decide to speak during live group events online, or just show up and listen.

Your level of social interaction is entirely up to you.

For spouses who wish to join together, we can set you up with two separate but linked accounts at a discounted price. Payment will be through the main account, and the other will be a subaccount.

With linked accounts, you’ll each have your own username and profile. You can participate in discussions independently, keep track of your course progress, and save your own bookmarks.

However, any changes made to the main account will also apply to the subaccount, including plan changes and membership cancellation.

Please contact us for pricing and help with setting up a linked account.

That’s okay. Just remember we’re here for you whenever you need us.

A great way to keep in touch is to join our mailing list. We’ll send you a few of our best resources up front, plus a new article every month with practical advice and information for estranged parents.

You can also subscribe to the Reconnection Club Podcast, a weekly show that offers both information and inspiration to hurting parents everywhere.

Subscribe today on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, or have a listen to the latest episodes on our very own podcast page.

Get to know us. Get on the mailing list, listen to the podcast, or read our blog. Whatever you do, please accept our warmest wishes for a speedy and permanent reconciliation with your adult child(ren).
