Special Holiday Episode: “You Are Not Alone”

Update: You can now listen to the episode here.

For parents estranged from adult children and grandchildren, the holidays may bring feelings of isolation and pain. At the very least, it’s important for them to know they’re not alone.

For a special holiday episode of The Reconnection Club Podcast, I’d like to feature the voices of parents who understand what it’s like to face the holidays estranged. Especially if you’ve been through special days before without your adult child(ren), I invite you to share your voice, your wisdom, and your heart with others walking a similar path.

What do you wish someone had said to you, to help you through? Whether it’s advice on how to get through the holidays, a message of hope, or simply a heartfelt greeting, I believe your words can make a difference to another parent who needs to hear them.

There’s no need to be polished or brilliant. Your voice and your heart are what will bring light to listeners. Being yourself will be enough. If you’re facing the holidays estranged for the first time, what would you like to be able to remember? Record a greeting for yourself. Other listeners will benefit, too.

How to participate? It’s simple. Just visit Speakpipe.com/RCpodcast and leave a message of up to 90 seconds. Your voice may be featured in the holiday episode, helping to remind others they’re not facing holiday-season estrangement alone.

(Please keep in mind that the episode may also be heard by estranged adult children; I won’t be able to use recordings that include “us vs. them” language.)

Here’s what one parent said in our General Discussion forum after submitting her message:

“RC friends, Speakpipe is very user friendly, too, allowing us to listen, send if happy, or reset it to try again or cancel. It even shows the time we use up to 90 seconds.”

Thank you for considering leaving a message. Together, parents can support each other through the most challenging time of the year. I look forward to hearing from you.

PS. Please leave your message no later than November 15th, 2024.
